Mission and Service Commission

The Mission and Service Commission met seven times during the past year.  We disbursed funds budgeted for Non-Agency Giving and End-of-Year surplus giving which totaled $21,600.00, which were disbursed to support workers and projects through MCC, workers through VMM, Haiti Land Purchase, Bridge of Hope, Roberta Webb, HR social services, Meserete Kristos College, Community outreach, Lindale Mennonite Women, Perspectives Class, Elderly Care in Bolivia, Maranatha School for Deaf, New Missions in Haiti, Hispanic Ministries.

The following Moment In Mission reports were presented during Sunday morning worship services:

  • Mercy House
  • School Supplies and Uniforms for Haiti Children, Report on VBS offerings
  • Meserete Kristos College
  • Missionary serving in Cambodia

Other Activity:

-Missions Focus Weekend – Saturday and Sunday Nov. 14 -15. Sunday, Aaron Kauffman, President of VMM gave the message on “I am the Light of the

-Fund Raising Dinner for mission workers in India – attended by 100 adults and 28 children. Raised $32,000 in cash and pledges for the next three-year term of service.

-Mission trip to Haiti to continue developing  the relationship with our Sister Church, Reserve Mennonite Church.

Community Service:

We sponsor one of the Mercy House apartments, providing household supplies, etc. for one of the clients of Mercy House. Volunteers from the church organized another successful Garage Giveaway for needy folks in the community.
